Cinema That Remembers: The Launch of Anansi TV

November 18, 2025 in Community, Culture, Performance Art, Theater

In a significant moment for global film culture, Third Horizon Distribution has officially (re)launched Anansi TV, an online curated collection and film distribution space dedicated to showcasing films by Caribbean and diaspora artists for global viewing. This initiative marks a deliberate step forward for the Miami-based collective, extending their acclaimed curatorial work into the digital space where Caribbean films can be accessed year-round.

More Than Just Streaming

Anansi TV is more than a home for Caribbean films; it is "cinema that remembers". As an online site housing a curated collection of Caribbean cinema, it allows audiences to watch these narratives anytime, anywhere. This initiative is a crucial step to radically transform access to Caribbean and Global South cinema. It directly addresses the significant lack of space for Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Global South stories, existing to hold these narratives and archive the full reality of the culture.

Romola Lucas, Executive Director of Third Horizon, emphasizes the platform’s mission to preserve these works. "These stories were never meant to pass through once and disappear—they were made to live on, to be returned to again and again," says Lucas. "We’re honored to be stewards of this collection and to offer a space where anyone, anywhere, can sit with the richness of Caribbean cinema".

For filmmakers, Anansi TV provides a platform where their work is witnessed, honored, and lives beyond the temporary lights of a film festival. It also offers an opportunity for artists to earn money for their work.

Beyond individual streaming, Anansi TV offers licensing for educators, broadcasters, and curators. This ensures that these vital stories can be studied and shared in classrooms and institutions, furthering the reach of Caribbean storytelling.
